Kurt M. Yakimovich, PhD student

I am currently pursuing my PhD in the Quarmby lab, examining basic questions of the ecology and evolution of snow algae in the Southwestern alpine areas of BC. Previously, I completed my MSc in Environmental Microbiology at Laurentian University, examining the microbial communities responsible for degrading leaf litter in lake sediments, and subsequently fueling lake ecosystems. I completed my BSc in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Alberta, where I first got interested in studying microbial ecology.
