2011 meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB): Denver, Dec 3-7, 2011

Denver was cold: the walk to meet colleagues for breakfast at 7 am was about -16oC (3oF) with blowing wind and snow. As usual, the symposia, poster sessions and innumerable other events were packed with exciting new data and new ideas. The collisions with colleagues and friends, random and planned, stoked the fire that keeps it all going. I left filled with new ideas and a renewed energy. Remind me to never miss this meeting.

It is impossible to attend everything at ASCB. One fun event that I missed was the Cell Dance competition. Fortunately for me (and you) the winning videos can be viewed on line.

And when the conference was over, a few of us had some time before our flights home. We walked in the glorious Denver sunshine to the DAM (Denver Art Museum) to see the Xu Beihong exhibit. A satisfying end to a spectacular five days in Denver.

See you at ASCB 2012!
